Norton Sandpaper Discs
Norton offers a variety of sandpaper discs in different sizes and minerals to suit different applications. These discs come in 5″, 6″, 7″, 8″, and 16″ sizes, and are made with different minerals to cater to specific needs. Among these options, the Red Heat discs are known to be the best overall performing discs, especially for fine sanding. On the other hand, the Blaze or Blaze+ discs are designed for heavy duty wood removal or finishing, but may not be suitable for fine sanding. It’s important to consider the specific needs of your project and choose the right sandpaper discs accordingly.
Norton Sandpaper Sanding Belts
Norton Sandpaper has a wide range of sandpaper belts available, but Wood flooring supply only offers the Red Heat and Blaze/Blaze+ options due to their value for money. These belts are known to be durable, effective at removing material, and capable of producing a flat surface on bare wood. If you’re looking for a high-quality sandpaper belt for hardwood floor sanding, the Red Heat and Blaze/Blaze+ options from Norton are excellent choices. They offer long-lasting performance and great value for their price.
Norton Sandpaper Drum Sander Rolls
Norton Sandpaper offers sandpaper rolls in Red Heat and Blaze/Blaze+ options for use with drum sanders. These rolls are suitable for use with both residential single phase sanders and 3 phase gym floor sanders. It’s important to make sure you choose the right size roll for your specific sander – residential sanders typically use 8″ rolls, while gym floor sanders only use 12″ rolls. Keep in mind that the rolls for gym floor sanders are usually 50 yards or 25 yards in length. To ensure optimal performance and compatibility, it’s essential to choose the right size and type of sandpaper roll for your sander.
Norton Sandpaper PSA Rolls
Pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA) rolls are an excellent choice for inter-coat abrasion, particularly for those looking for a cost-effective option. They are suitable for use on both oil-based poly and waterborne sealers, making them a versatile choice for a variety of projects. These rolls are designed for abrading sealer coats, and can provide a cost-conscious solution for professionals looking to achieve a smooth and even finish on their projects.
Different Norton Sandpaper Types
Red Heat Sandpaper – Widely known around the industry as some of the best sandpaper for a fine scratch. The Seeded Gel Ceramic grain gives contractors a fine scratch. This grain breaks down as every other grain of sandpaper does, however, it stays sharp and has the longest-lasting scratch of any mineral. Red heat is a favorite among Boise flooring contractors.
Blaze – This is a ceramic mineral that acts like an opencoat design. This ceramic is one of the sharpest minerals used in sandpaper to give an aggressive cut for places where you need to sand a lot of material off. While this does not give the best scratch pattern, it will do serious work on the area it is used.
BlueFire Sandpaper – Older technology that is replaced by the above minerals. While still sold, they have more random scratch patterns and are almost the same cost as the better minerals.
Neon – This is a silicon carbide and is now replaced by better synthetic minerals. Silicone carbide sanding belts are really not that good as they wear fast and do not cut very well. Even though they are cheap ceramic belts are a better per sq ft. deal.
