Waterlox®, our flagship brand, was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1910 by R.L. Hawkins, Sr. He purchased a small paint making company called the Empire Varnish Company and began experimenting with tung oil to create a range of interior and exterior paints, varnishes, enamels, and stains. Today, Waterlox® products are handmade by our skilled staff using original family formulas and the finest ingredients.
